HISSAR – the greenest resort of Bulgaria.
With its 22 springs, Hissar is a famous balneological resort. It is situated some 42 km from the city of Plovdiv in the skirts of the SREDNAGORA Mountains. Yet one thousand years before Christ, the most ancient inhabitants of this resort – the Thracians, were aware of the healing power of the Hissar springs. As the legend tells, they used to keep them secrete and reveal to nobody the hidden paths leading to these springs. 

Later the Romans came and they learnt from the Thracians about the healing springs, and in 4th century A.D they laid the foundations of a settlement, named Dioclecianopulis, which became a center of rest and recreation for the Roman aristocratic elite. The town was famous for its baths, residences, basilicas and amphitheaters, and it enjoyed ceaseless and turbulent history up to the present day and is remembered throughout history by its many names. 

Mineral water in the region helps prophylactics and the healing of scores of illnesses, as it is rich in fluoric ions, meta-silicon acid, and other chemical ingredients. Hissar water has a proven healing effect with regard to kidney, stomach, liver and hormonal diseases. It is especially helpful against caries, osteoporosis and it stimulates the body to get rid of harmful substances.
